COSTUME DESIGNS

Working as a costume designer for the film "The Perfect Warrior" presented unique challenges. The costumes, tailored for dynamic motion and fighting scenes, had to balance aesthetics with functionality. Drawing on my Asian heritage, I found inspiration in the grandiose action garments featured in the Kung Fu movies and shows I've enjoyed since childhood.Throughout the design process, I collaborated closely with our director, Alex, on every detail from sketches and fabric choices to the final designs. However, adaptability was key. Just as we finalized our main cast's costumes, we faced a fabric shortage. This setback led us to adapt our plans on the spot at the fabric store, resulting in unexpectedly magnificent outcomes. Additionally, a week before filming, a snag occurred when the costume house we intended to rent shoes from closed due to the SAG-AFTRA actor strike. Utilizing all my resources, I swiftly devised a backup plan, allowing Alex and me to purchase new shoes within our budget, ultimately saving costs compared to renting.Being a costume designer is more than just designing. It demands problem-solving skills, leadership, and effective communication.
